    Description

Needlepoint Eagle & Florentine Pin Ball Kit
Circa 1800 Style * Stitched on Silk Gauze
This pin ball is based on handmade 18th & 19th century examples. It it stitched in needlepoint and Bargello stitches using DMC embroidery floss on 32 count silk gauze.
It is worked from charts. The kit includes two 7" x 7" pieces of 32 count silk gauge, full color and black and white charts, a 26 Tapestry needle, a card to sort thread colors and all of the floss needed to complete the design. It requires a small amount of muslin, stuffing and silk ribbon to finish (not included), but full finishing instructions are included. The pinball is about 3 1/4" in diameter when finished.
This pin ball is patterned after one in my collection that dates to about 1790-1800 and has silk Florentine (Bargello) stitch on both sides. I wanted a patriotic theme and so decided on the eagle for the front.
This was inspired by the knitted pinballs of this same era where white beads or knitting picked out the pattern on a dark solid colored background. I looked for a fierce Federalist style eagle but nothing fit my round format. I used the features of many and added the traditional laurel leaves and stars to make him round pinball friendly.
I used the same Bargello pattern as my antique pin ball for the other side side but altered the colors to muted reds, creams and blues. True flag colors would have been too bright and crisp. The size, shape and finishing on the pinball are exactly like my antique.
I stand behind everything that I offer and

that it is exactly as presented.
