  • Condition: The ticket is in good condition except for some fading/loss of color in spots - there is a 1/2" x 1/4" crease in the upper left from where there is a paper clip impression - there is a 5/8" diagonal crease in the lower left - the upper left corner has some top paper loss (blue has rubbed off) - the lower left corner is rounded - there are a couple shiny spots on the back.

    Description

    This auction is for a ticket stub from Down Beat's Star Night which was held at Soldier Field in Chicago on August 1, 1953. This concert fest included performances by: the Norman Granz Jazz at the Philharmonic featuring Gene Krupa - Oscar Peterson and Flip Phillips, Louis Armstrong, Eddie Fisher, Julius La Rosa, Patti Page, Ray Anthony, Ralph Marterie, Sauter-Finegan, Hank Thompson, etc. With this ticket stub I'll include a photocopy of a newspaper ad for the concert which lists most of the musicians. (The ad touts that over 100 Great Recording Stars will be appearing in person.) The ticket stub measures 1-1/2" x 3-3/8". This was a General Admission ticket which cost .50 back in 1953. The ticket is in good condition except for some fading/loss of color in spots - there is a 1/2" x 1/4" crease in the upper left from where there is a paper clip impression - there is a 5/8" diagonal crease in the lower left - the upper left corner has some top paper loss (blue has rubbed off) - the lower left corner is rounded - there are a couple shiny spots on the back.
