JVC BR-S822DXU S-VHS RECORDER/EDIT FEEDER 2025 Drum hours

$ 422.4

Availability: 100 in stock
  • Condition: Power supply needs capacitors, it works but sometimes takes 20 minutes before the unit will power on. The more frequently the unit is used the faster it appears to power on. The power supply issue affects the picture with wavy lines until unit is warmed up. Audio playback on non hi-fi tapes does not work or works intermittently. Play, rewind, FF, VHC-C tape selector switch and pause were tested. Power hour: 0273H Drum hour 2025H Cap: 1539H Reel Hour Meter: 1554H This unit has dings and scratches, the most notable a melted look toward the front left side of the unit. Even though the wavy lines disappear upon warm up, I recommend repair before relying on this unit for regular use.

    Description

    This unit was purchased from the original owner, Photographics Maui in July 2011, professionally packaged and shipped Fedex 2-day air, along with two BR-S522DXU's and some other equipment.
    This unit sat in a smoke-free climate controlled environment with only occasional usage for periodic testing since 2011.
    A more thorough testing was done in the last month, the issues I noted are non-hi-fi audio does not work or it only works occasionally.  Hi-Fi audio does work.    Using fast forward and reverse it is easy to see that there is some wear on the video heads, but once the power supply warms up, the lines in the picture go away.  It could take an hour or so for the unit to warm up.
    The power supply defiantly has some bad capacitors and from talking to some professional VHS repair people I think that is what is causing the wavy lines in the picture.  I think this could be repaired by just fixing the capacitors in the power supply, but that is my unprofessional opinion.
    This unit weighs around 50lbs it is a huge VCR and not for the faint of heart, only get this if you KNOW this is something you want to repair/or tinker with.
    This unit uses a 7-pin s-video cable, a regular S-Video cable will not work.  Composite is BNC connectors only but you can also use an adapter for RCA.
    This unite does not have a Time Base Corrector, you need to add the TBC-1, TBC-2 and TBC-3 cards to get the Time Base corrector to work.
    This unit was manufactured the end of 1996 early 1997 based on the Serial number, it's like purchasing an older car it is not going to function as new but I have described the condition to the best of my ability.
    I am selling this unit because I have another BR-S522 that works and I do not need the other units.    All cards are present except the TBC-1, TBC2, & TBC3 cards and the Y-688 card.
