SOUVENIR CHINA-Colorful Hot Springs Ark. Plate-Arlington Hotel-8 1/2" -c.1900-1910
Offered is a selection consisting of a vintage Arkansas Souvenir China plate, measuring 8 1/2" diameter, having a sprayed green border, gold edged, with a design of flowering vines around edge. center has a gold edged vividly colored picture of the classic old Arlington Hotel, caption reading "Arlington Hotel, Hot Springs,Ark.". The scene is hand painted, with great attention paid to detail, such as the man crossing the dirt street. Back is stamped in black "Wheelock / Made In Austria / For / James Glass Novelty Store / Hot Springs, Ark. / Vienna ".
This delicate porcelain plate definitely predates World War I , as all trade was suspended at that time, and a lot of facilities that produced these works of art were destroyed.
