The Ellington Jazz Greats
March 1961 European tour, presented by Norman Granz in association with Horst Lippmann. When Duke Ellington in March 1961 went to France to work on the music for the film Paris Blues, members of his orchestra, with the support of Norman Granz and German promoter Horst Lippmann, put together a short European tour billed as the “The Ellington Jazz Greats”. This was Johnny Hodges (alto sax), Lawrence Brown (trombone), Ray Nance (cornet, violin, voice), Harry Carney (baritone sax), James Woode (bass), and Sam Woodyard (drums) together with pianist Al Williams, who’s the only one not be part the Duke’s orchestra. Delicate program artwork and design by Hans Michel and Günther Kieser.
In original pictorial coated wrappers, perfect bound, 27.8 x 25.7 cm, 26 pp. Bilingual edition with program notes by Horst Lippmann in German and English. In near excellent unmarked condition, tightly bound and clean.  Additional photos available on request.
